Two major development officers are joining the Office of Development and External Affairs in February, Joseph S. Brosnan, Vice President, has announced.

Frank Oliver, who has nearly two decades experience in development and institutional advancement, has been appointed Executive Director of Development.

Oliver has been Dean of Institutional Advancement at College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania, since 1993. There he was responsible for fund raising, alumni affairs, media relations, marketing communications and cultural affairs. College Misericordia is a coeducational liberal arts college founded by and still sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of Dallas.

Before coming to College Misericordia, Oliver was vice president for development and public relations for the Guthrie Clinic, Foundation and Medical Center in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He also was a senior development consultant for Goettler Associates, Inc, in Columbus, Ohio.

He began his professional career as a general assignment reporter for Wyoming County Press in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, and later founded a weekly agricultural newspaper, The Farmer's Friend, which still serves a 10-county region in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Oliver earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in communication at the University of Pittsburgh and his Master of Public Management degree in the management of private, nonprofit organizations at the Heinz School of Public Policy and Management of Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently completing his doctorate in higher education administration at TC.

Marilyn S. Napoli is joining the staff as Director of Major Gifts. She has been the major gifts officer and the director of stewardship at the New York University School of Law. She was also special projects director at the Columbia School of Law's Office of Development.

She began her career in higher education as a coordinator in the Columbia Business School's Office of Alumni Relations.

A graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans, Napoli earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in French. She taught on the history faculties at Columbia Preparatory School and at the Rhodes Academy's night school alternative degree program.

She has completed her course work for her Master of Arts degree from Columbia's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
