As it seems more certain that Mayor Bloomberg will be getting control over the New York City public schools, what he may try to do with it is still uncertain. Some indications are that he believes in school uniforms, merit pay for teachers in high performing school and teacher re-evaluation every two years. While nothing is certain, there is some hope that this shift in power may lead to a better schooling for the city's youth.

"He's been given the power," said Tom Jennings, an associate dean and Registrar."With a good working relationship between
the mayor and a chancellor something we rarely had before the kids might actually get what they need in the classroom."
