Cookson Speaks with Yale Students About School Choice

On September 27th Peter Cookson Jr. of TC Innovations spoke to students at Yale University. Cookson said he feels vouchers and charter schools will not improve public education in America. He feels, however, that these school choice plans only further divide a school system already segregated economically and geographically. Cookson is the director of TC Innovations, a non-profit organization that works with new teachers to provide support and ongoing professional development. Cookson is also the author of numerous books on education, including "School Choice: The Struggle for the Soul of American Education."

We need dynamic new curricula and a talented teacher core," he said. "We need to create a generation of school teachers different than the
generation that preceded them."

The article, entitled "Cookson Discusses Education " appeared in the October 1st edition of the Yale Daily News.
