CCCR Finds Room for Improvement

The Community College Research Center found that Rockland Community College [New York] has unstable leadership, stagnant part-time enrollment and a board of trustees with less experience than any of its peer institutions. The college's board hired CCR in March to conduct the analysis to help shape short- and long-term goals and identify the school's strengths and weaknesses.

The college's board hired CCR in March to conduct the analysis to help shape short- and long-term goals and identify the school's strengths and weaknesses.

The analysis found that the board held twice as many meetings as any of its peer SUNY colleges and that the school's enrollment had declined 18 percent between 1990 and 1998. Although it determined that full-time enrollment was rebounding, part-time enrollment declined 35 percent during the 1990s and is not improving.
