A Campus for a Pioneer

On December 15th, TC dedicated its offices at the Theresa Towers, on the corner of Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard and 125th Street, as the new Edmund W. Gordon Campus. The event, which celebrated TC's Professor Emeritus of Psychology, also marked the work of the TC Education Zone Partnership, the College's network of partnerships with the New York City school system in Regions 9 and 10, which encompass Northern Manhattan and parts of the Bronx.

Dr. Gordon, founder of TC's Institute for Urban and Minority Education, has been a lifelong champion of "supplementary education"-- the idea that children must be supported by a network of caring community and family to ensure that out-of-school educational experiences positively shape their intellectual development and well-being. Recently, Dr. Gordon was named a special advisor to The Campaign for Educational Equity.

The event included remarks by Congressman Charles Rangel and special entertainment by the Heritage School Fusion Ensemble.
