Mun Tsang (International Transcultural Studies) was recently awarded the Cheung Kong Professorship from the Ministry of Education, China. This professorship recognizes academic excellence and contribution to Chinese education.

Frances Vavrus (International Transcultural Studies) was awarded the Joyce Lynn Cain Award for Distinguished  Research on African Descendents for her article, "Adjusting Inequality:  Education and Structural Adjustment Policies in Tanzania."

The TC doctoral Program in Physical Education was named among the top ten doctoral programs during 2002-2004 by the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education and announced in the Chronicle of Higher Education in February for its contributions to the study of and/or applications of the art and science of human movement and physical activity.  For a complete listing of doctoral rankings, go to www.aakpe.org. 

A blessing from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education  as October brought accreditation to Teachers College. TC's accreditation team was led by TC professor John Saxman and Sasha Gribovskaya, Director of TC's Office of Accreditation and Assessment.
