Bethany Names New President

Ruthann Knechel Johansen of Granger, Ind., has been called to be president of Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond by the school's board of trustees.

Ruthann Knechel Johansen of Granger, Ind., has been called to be president of Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond by the school's board of trustees.

Johansen, who was a member of the Bethany board of trustees from 1985-1995, is a professor in the program of liberal studies and a faculty fellow of the Joan B. Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She also has served as adjunct faculty at Bethany Seminary, a guest lecturer at Earlham College, and has been a visiting scholar at Harvard Divinity School and Princeton Theological Seminary.

Johansen has a Ph.D. in English from Drew University, a master's degree in English from Columbia University Teachers College, and a bachelor's in English and music from Manchester College.
