Recently, Margaret Crocco, Professor of Social Studies and Education, was a guest on the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC Radio (FM 93.9). Prof. Crocco discussed “Teaching The Levees: A Curriculum for Democratic Dialogue and Civic Engagement,” the 100-page teaching tool she developed with a team of TC faculty, students, staff and alumni that considers civic issues raised by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. The curriculum is cued to the four-hour HBO documentary by Spike Lee, "When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts." Dr. Crocco will be joined on the Lehrer show by NY Times columnist Bob Herbert, who moderated the recent symposium held at TC to launch the "Teaching The Levees" curriculum.
