Global TC Day celebrations came back this summer - bigger and better than ever - and we still have one event to go! A  Dominican Republic will round out an incredible month of reconnecting with our alumni, student and friends around the globe. Thank you so much to all those who joined us at our 42 events worldwide; we loved seeing each and every one of you and hearing about the exciting things you all are doing and the major impact you are making both locally and globally.  Be sure to share pictures from the events you attended on social media using #GlobalTCDay, or send them to tcalumni@tc.edu. Hollingworth Science Camp
The Hollingworth Science Camp is a unique blend of dynamic, interactive, creative learning experiences combined with camp activities that children traditionally associate with summer fun! Through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes the doing of science. Here's a recap of some of the fun times from this year's camp lead by Lisa Wright (Ed.D. '87) along with other alumni and students. Brushes with History: Imagination and Innovation in Art Education History
The conference will be held in November 2015 at Teachers College with the goal of providing a forum for presentation and discussion of ideas, issues, information, and research approaches utilized in the historical investigation of art education within local and global contexts. It will offer opportunities to engage with the rich resources in art education history at TC and beyond, explore more sophisticated approaches and methods of historical research, encourage interest in historical research, and extend the conversation on how meaning is produced in historical research trends and representations. This conference comes two decades after the last academic conference on the history of art education held at The Pennsylvania State University in 1995. TC's legacy of "firsts" begins with the College itself and is based on the focus of renewing this legacy through TC's Campaign; this is the "first" history of art education conference taking place in the 127 year history of the College as well as that of the Program in Art & Art Education. TR@TC2
Teaching Residents at Teachers College (TR@TC) is excited to announce that it has been extended a generous grant award from the U. S. Department of Education's Teacher Quality Partnership initiative to prepare high quality teachers! TR@TC2 is currently recruiting applicants interested in completing a masters degree program, including a teaching residency at partnering New York City public schools and eligibility for a New York teaching certification. Completion of the Secondary Inclusive Education program leads to 7-12 certification in Teaching Students with Disabilities; Teaching Speakers of Other Languages towards K-12 certification; and Science Education-Biology towards 7-12 certification.When applicants are accepted into their academic program and into TR@TC2, they are supported by well regarded, experienced mentor teachers, supervisors, faculty, and staff throughout the 18-month academic program and into the first two years of teaching.  Teaching Residents are eligible to receive a $30,000 living stipend, a substantial scholarship, and financial assistance for health insurance. Meet the Firms
Meet the Firms Networking Event returns on Thursday,  September 24 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at TC. This event, hosted by Career Services, is for students and alumni to network with professionals within their field to learn more about Human Capital, Organizational Development, Talent Management, Human Resources Leadership, Mediation/Conflict Resolution, traditional Human                       Resources Functions and Consulting positions. In addition, students and alumni will learn about competencies specific employers look for and strategies to pursuing employment. Although some employers will be recruiting for specific positions, this is not theonly focus of the event. Alumni Creations | #TCMade

Nicholas Chiarkas (Ed.D. '81) published, Weepers, a mystery/thriller set in New York City, during 1957. Weepers is a story about murder, courage, connections and revenge in a neighborhood where good and evil commune. Here in the Two Bridges neighborhood, if you drop a rock into the East River, the ripples will go all the way to Italy.In the end, Weepers shows us that the courage of the underdog, despite fear and moral ambiguity, will conquer intimidation.

TC Associate Professor  and Co-Director of the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, and Teaching (NCREST), Thomas Hatch, published Managing to Change How Schools Can Survive (and Sometimes Thrive) in Turbulent Times. This book shows how school improvement efforts are often undermined by the changing conditions around schools, as well as by some of the very policies and programs designed to help them make improvements.
