Validating J-1 Record Upon Entry to the United States
As your J-1 “Exchange Visitor (EV) Program Sponsor,” Teachers College is required to validate your program participation within 30 days of the program start date listed on your DS-2019.
Be sure to complete your Check-In process via TC-Compass upon arrival to the United States. As a J-1 Exchange Visitor, you will need to upload copies of your passport identification page, J-1 visa page, signed DS-2019, and I-94 (white card in your passport or electronic version retrievable through Department of Homeland Security website).
---Notifying OISS with Updates to Your Information---
Following initial validation, you must notify the OISS of any changes in your contact information such as your U.S. address, phone number, etc within 10 calendar days of the change. The OISS must then report the change in SEVIS within 10 days. It is extremely important that you report these changes to maintain your J-1 status. You can report these changes through the "J-1 Research Scholar/Professor Information Update" eForm on TC-Compass here.
