Alumni Council President's Message
Dear Fellow Alumni,
In my last letter to you, in TC Today, I told you that we modified the mission of our Alumni Council to better align with the administration’s direction and the wants and needs of our 90,000- member Alumni Association. Since that time, our committees have been working to make that mission—(re)connecting you to TC—a reality. • Working with the College’s Alumni Relations department, our “Alumni Wants and Needs” committee polled and talked with hundreds of alumni. They also spoke with the heads of departments and programs, because it is through those that many of you maintain your connection. • As a result of what they learned, the “Programs and Resources” committee held a number of department events that drew rather large and lively crowds. The Web site was improved. And new “social networking” opportunities were put in place. Look for us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Of course, we also hosted the Academic Festival, which I know many of you enjoyed. • The “Awards and Recognition” committee kept the tradition of honoring an impressive slate of alumni with the Teachers College “Distinguished Alumni Award” and “Early Career Award.” The committee also developed ways to recognize many others of you, who contribute in so many ways across the TC spectrum of disciplines. • Our “International Outreach” committee enhanced connections with numerous international students and alumni—through meetings, receptions and socials, here and abroad. • Our “Nominations” committee selected nine new members for the Alumni Council, with rich and diverse backgrounds and skills. We say goodbye and thanks to those rolling off the Council and look forward to welcoming the new members in September. • Please note that we can always use help on our committees. If you are interested, contact Rosella Garcia, Director of Alumni Relations, garcia@tc.edu. • To our graduating students, the Alumni Council and I wish you much success in all that you do. Please let us know what you want and need from your alma mater and stay connected. I look forward to meeting many of you at Commencement. • To all my fellow alumni, I wish you a wonderful summer, and hope to connect with you again in the fall.

Sincerely,

Robert Weintraub
