Chuck Kinzer (Math, Science and Technology) is the 2003 winner of the Computers in Reading Award from the International Reading Association (IRA) and he gave a keynote address at the IRA Annual Conference on May 11th in recognition of this. The award is for the multimedia case-based instructional system he has created, which is being used in colleges around the country to help teachers teach reading better.
Maxine Greene (Arts and Humanities), who is the William F. Russell Professor in the Foundations of Education (Emeritus) and Professor of Philosophy and Education (Emeritus), is getting her 11th honorary degree. It is an honorary degree in pedagogy from L.I.U. at C.W. Post campus.

Joan Jeffri (Arts and Humanities), who is Director of the Program in Arts Administration at TC, moderated the April 26th event, "Does Theatre Matter," at the Columbia School of Journalism, which was sponsored by the National Arts Journalism Program (NAJP), the Program in Arts Administration at Teachers College, and the Theatre Division of the School of the Arts at Columbia University. World famous theatre critic Robert Brustein and Kathleen Chalfant were among the several distinguished panelists. The May 9th issue of Back Stage, the performing arts weekly, covered the event.

Nancy Lesko (Curriculum and Teaching) received the Alumni Achievement Award from the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this spring. The Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honor bestowed by the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Selection is based on significant contributions to one's chosen field and an exemplary record of professional leadership and service.
