Elaine Brantley Memorial Award for Community & Civility Winners Announced

This years winners of the Elaine Brantley Memorial Award for Community & Civility are Dr. Dennis Chambers, Public Safety Officer, Aklilu Ghidey, Duplicating Equipment Operator, and James Kearney, Public Safety Officer.
Congratulations to our three winners of the 2014-2015 Elaine Brantley Memorial Award for Community & Civility. This years winners are Dr. Dennis Chambers, Public Safety Officer, Aklilu Ghidey, Duplicating Equipment Operator, and James Kearney, Public Safety Officer.

The Elaine Brantley Memorial Award for Community & Civility seeks to recognize Teachers College employees who, by virtue of their daily efforts go beyond the expectations of their position, promote a sense of community and a culture of civility at the College.  The award hopes to raise the awareness of individual contributions to community and civility at TC, show appreciation for those individuals who contribute to the realization of these goals, and recognize those who excel in making Teachers College a better place to work and learn.  All Teachers College employees, including faculty, professional staff, union staff, part-time staff, and administration, are eligible to receive this award.

About this years award winners:

Dr. Dennis Chambers is a Public Safety Officer II in the Department of Public Safety. He  is a member of the 707 Union. Dennis is also a TC alumnus and earned a Master of Arts in 1999 in Organizational Psychology, and his second Master of Arts in 2002 in Health Education. He also completed his Doctor of Education degree in 2010 in Adult Learning and Leadership. He joined the TC community in March 1989.

Aklilu Ghidey is a Duplicating Equipment Operator in Duplicating Services in the Business Services Office and he is a member of the 2110 Union. He came to Teachers College in June 2006.

James Kearney is a Public Safety Officer II in the Department of Public Safety, and he is a member of the 707 Union. He joined the TC community in November 1989.

The Elaine Brantley Memorial Award for Community & Civility will be presented during the State of the College Address to be held on October 8, 2014, at 3:30pm in the Cowin Center Auditorium. Please join us in congratulating Dennis Chambers, Aklilu Ghidey, and James Kearney for receiving this significant honor!
